Black ink doesn't print on HP printer?

I have an HP D4200 series printer that came with the laptop I bought. I had it aside since august and I decided to try it now. Everything works fine except for the fact that the black ink doesn't print. I can print pages with colors and come out right, but with black, it doesn't.

My cartridges are still full and both (colored %26amp; black) of them were installed properly. Whenever I try to print a text doucument, the printer prints it, but not even a sinlge black line comes out of it.

HELP PLEASE and THANK YOU!Black ink doesn't print on HP printer?
It is likely your Black Printhead is clogged - not using printer for several months often results in clogged Printheads - the ink @ Printhead dries-up; hardens.

Remove the Black cartridge. In your sink, run the hot water until it gets ';all-the-way'; hot, %26amp; then hold the Printhead {Only} under the hot water for 7-10 seconds. Then, using a paper towel, hold the Printhead vertically onto the paper towel - ink should ';Wick'; into the towel. If it does not, repeat hot water 2 or 3 times.

Be very careful with your Printhead; ';Wiping'; a Printhead with paper towel can result in damage to Printhead - it doesn't take much.

If this doesn't work, use a 50% / 50% mixture of Ammonia %26amp; Water - heat in pan until it almost comes to a boil, BUT NOT BOILING. Hold Printhead in mixture for 10-15 seconds, then try ';Wicking'; into paper towel again; you can repeat this several times.

If all else fails, using a Q-Tip, VERY GENTLY rub Printhead with Isopropyl Alcohol; 99% is best - I have used 91% with pretty good results. Even 85-87% Alcohol would probably be acceptable here, because you really have nothing to loose.

When you reinstall your HP Black cartridge back into the HP printer, your ';Estimated Ink Levels'; will show zero ink in the Black cartridge - don't worry about it - you're printer will print fine [This is just another attempt, by HP, to discourge refilling - they have embedded a serial number in the copper-conductors [strips]; a HP printer ';Remembers'; the last two cartridges in the printer].

If ';Estimated Ink Levels'; are important to you, there are ways around this; the eaisest way is to have three of the same-numbered cartridge; use in sequence, %26amp; when you install the third cartridge, the HP printer will reconize it as a ';New'; cartridge.

There are other ways of getting around this HP attempted road-block; this information is avaliable @ the websites listed below, or you are welcome to IM or E-mail me [Different HP Inkjet cartridges require different procedures].

Good Luck,

Ken .
