when i double clicked instal.app error message appears try re install. it appears that mac os 9 does not recognize install.app file, what should i do?I cant install hp d2460 printer in my mac os 9,?
Firstly how old is the printer?
OS9 is now 7 years old which may be too old for the printer although you should just be able to plug

Looks like you need to upgrade to 10.3 or later.
