After installing HP psc 1315 printer, a nameless taskbar icon appears momentarily every 15 minutes. Why?

After installing the software for the HP PSC 1315 all-in-one printer on two computers (winXP) both behave oddly. Exactly every 15 minutes from the time I boot up the computer, a nameless taskbar icon pops up and goes away faster than I can click on it. What is it and how do I get rid of it? Is there a setting somewhere that queries the computer every 15 minutes? I'm puzzled and frustrated. Functionality of the computer is otherwise unaffected, but this behavior is annoying! After installing HP psc 1315 printer, a nameless taskbar icon appears momentarily every 15 minutes. Why?
You can remove it from startup by going to the start menu, selecting run, and typing msconfig. Click on the startup tab and remove the check boxes from everything that says HP in it. That would be the easiest way. Restart and your computer will not do that anymore. However, by doing that you may not get the ink level notification anymore. You will still be able to print, though. After installing HP psc 1315 printer, a nameless taskbar icon appears momentarily every 15 minutes. Why?
It can be one of many things such as updates, registration, or data uploads to tell HP of your machine's progress. Otherwise, it's HP's version of spyware. You can go into msconfig and disable this though and reset the comp. It should stop.
